Babies
Like adults babies can endure muscular tensions which can impact them in many different ways, such as:
Discomfort in feeding position
Favouring turning their head one side when sleeping
Difficulties with digestion.
Babies have a limited way of communicating and sometimes as a new parent who has fed, changed and nursed a baby that still won’t settle they are left wondering what it is they have missed. Very gentle osteopathic techniques can help to release physical tension and promote freer movement where muscles have been tight, helping to soothe and relax them.
If you’re not sure whether Osteopathy can help, please contact Melissa to discuss what is the right approach for you.
Melissa is passionate about helping babies and their families settle into their new life together and is always happy to have a discussion prior to consultation to decipher whether osteopathy or another alternative is right for your child.
Young children & teens
Osteopathic techniques are suitable for children of all ages.
As your child goes through growth spurts or reaches milestones you may notices changes and be uncertain as to whether they are normal or not. Melissa is trained to assess infants and teens at all stages of development; and is often asked to check over a child’s gait to assess if certain things such as in-toeing or knock knees are normal for the stage of development or not.
A specialised osteopathic assessment can help settle this doubt and reassure you on appropriate care and management.
